DENTAL IMPLANTS If you are missing one or more teeth, you'll want replacements that are as natural as possible. If partials, bridges, or dentures don't work for you, you may consider dental implants. Unlike partials and dentures, which can be removed, implants are permanently anchored into the jaw itself. At your dental exam, we will take any and all x-rays to help determine if you are a good candidate for a dental implant. Having an implant is a three-step process of a series of appointments over approximately 4 to 6 months. One first step involves a surgical placement of the implant, anchoring it to the bone. The next step is the surgical anchoring of the abutment attachment to secure the implant to the restoration. The final step is creating and placing the “new” porcelain tooth restoration over the implant. With proper oral hygiene care and commitment to your oral health, your implant will last for many years to come. |
